Presentation

Objectives:
Since 2004, the workshops of mechanics, microprocessing and electronics amalgamated their activities in the pole “Technology, Innovation & Maintenance (TIM)”. The objective of this fusion is to maintain the level of excellence of the engineering departments of the laboratory. By approaching concert the technological problems raised by the projects which are subjected to us, the three workshops give each other the means of continuing the technological developments which we implement at the LPPA.
These two last years, the laboratory made investments important to maintain on level the tools of the TIM. The data-processing park was partially renewed. The software of mechanical CAD (Autocad 2004 and Inventor 8) and CFAO (Goelan V5) and the stations of electronic CAD (Protel, Matlab, Simulink) were updated. At the beginning of 2006, a new turn with numerical control will be installed in the workshop of mechanics.

Projects and Activities

Project Noirm :
The project of video Oculomètre 2D, of new generation, for functional explorations in medium disturbed by the IRM arrives at its end. The phase of evaluation of the visual processor (GVPP), invented by Patrick PIRIM (partner of the project), arrived in the long term and the first results obtained with the GVPP are all with encouraging fact. The year 2005 was particularly devoted to the study and the evaluation of various guides of image which will be used to leave the image the eye of the IRM. After a phase of rather long test, we made manufacture a guide of image of 6 meters by the company STRONG. This guide is in phase of evaluation and will be integrated soon into the helmet of the oculometer. This p rojet is supported by the RNTS and is financed by the ACI Technologie for health 2002.
Magic Carpet project:
The space memory can be tested by using the test of “Corsi-Block-Tapping”. This test is composed of a panel 30cm by 25cm on which 9 studs of 5 cm by 5cm are located in a specific order. During the test of “corsi” the experimenter touches the studs in a given order. The subject must repeat the sequence indicated in the same order. This project thus proposes to build an electronic version of the “Corsi” which will give to the experimenter a greater reproducibility of the tests and will make it possible to measure additional parameters during the phase of reproduction by the subject.
Moreover, we propose to build a “Corsi-Walk-Test” (CWT) large-sized to test the visuo-space memory in a real environment implying locomotor information. The space memory and displacements of the body in a real environment should show us a memory different from that used for the visual treatment. The “Walk-test” will consist of 13 luminous flagstones of 5 with 10mm drowned in a fitted carpet. The electronic “Corsi-test” and the “Walk-test” will be controlled by a microcomputer via an Ethernet connection.
Binocular Obturating project:
For the optical station of imagery allowing the analysis of the neuronal activity in the animal, we developed a binocular obturator controlled by microcontrolor. This apparatus implements original solutions as well point of considering mechanics as point of considering electronics (BasicStamp).
Complementary activities:
Establishment of an optical system of imagery, Microphone-chutes, mobile, Stimulative Platform visual with LEDs, Helmets of control of the visual field, active electronic Handle, Tunnels and mentonnières. Interface power, Control panel, Trigger of ball, Amplificateur of accelerometer, audio Stimulateur, Carte microphone-chute, Interface Vicon-ASL.
Formation:
Electric enabling, Language VHDL, electronic CAD Protel, First-aid worker Rescuer of work.
