Presentation

 

I study the depth perception induced by binocular disparities, both horizontal and vertical, in the peripheral visual field

Most visual scenes contain horizontal and vertical disparities. The depth induced by horizontal disparities of images from the two eyes can be partly predicted by euclidian geometry. However, for vertical disparities, the physical depth is not always predicted. Vertical disparity has to be associated with horizontal disparity in the study of binocular disparity as a depth cue. Therefore, we are interested in the combination of horizontal and vertical disparities to study the role, and the global versus local processing, of the vertical disparity and the horizontal disparity.
